The Paypers reports that Standard Chartered and HSBC completed the first live cross-border tokenised-deposit transaction on Swift's blockchain-based ledger. Payment messages moved over the Swift ledger, obligations were recorded on each bank's separate tokenised-deposit system, and Swift matched and netted those obligations before final settlement through existing settlement systems.

Global Trade Review's comparison of first-half 2026 bank results finds higher trade-loan demand across parts of Europe, Africa and Singapore, with weaker second-quarter signals in the Middle East after shipping disruption.
