Kevin Duffy, Co-Founder at Winnow: Over a third of the food we grow on this planet isn't eaten by anyone, that accounts for about eight to 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions of the whole planet. Winnow helps prevent food waste in kitchens around the world, helping commercial kitchens be more efficient with the food they work with. Winnow Vision provides eyes on the bin in the kitchen when chefs can't do that, and provides the data about exactly what gets wasted, when, and why, so that chefs have the right insight every day to make better decisions about how they manage their operations over time. Over time, because we have AI, we can learn and become more granular and understand the menu better to help drive even more insight.
Kirstie Mackey, Head of Citizenship, UK and Europe at Barclays: Barclays is deploying Windows technology in quite a few of our operations across our sites, helping us to identify food wastage and think about what practical steps we could take to improve that. So, here at One Churchill Place, we're already starting to see the benefits of that by implementing some tangible changes, which is going to help us to make progress in reducing our food wastage.
Kevin Duffy, Co-Founder at Winnow: Today, Winnows having a massive impact, along with its customers. Last year, we celebrated a milestone that our customers are now preventing over $100 million in food from being wasted every single year. That's equivalent to about 122,000 tons of CO2 equivalent.
Kirstie Mackey, Head of Citizenship, UK and Europe at Barclays: Technology driven solutions play a crucial role in addressing global challenges to solving complex problems such as food waste and climate change. Barclays actively supports companies like Winnow who are tackling some of the biggest global challenges, from having that initial idea to IPO and beyond. The Unreasonable Impact Program opens up its door to mentors from Barclays and beyond, and these mentors really help some of the high-growth ventures to tackle some of their issues they've been grappling with, and also introduce them to their network of contacts.
Kevin Duffy, Co-Founder at Winnow: Joining the Unreasonable Impact Program has provided a real boost to our strategic ambitions as a company, plugging us into a global network of individuals who can really help as mentors and help drive our business forward. What stood out to us in working with Barclays is they're a business that not only provides great services across the board to their customers. They've been supportive from the start in finding ways to add value and support us in our mission.
