Grab Agrees to Buy 60% of Atome Financial for $1.49 Billion
PYMNTS reports, and Grab's primary announcement confirms, that Grab entered definitive agreements to acquire a controlling 60% cash stake in Atome Financial for USD 1.49 billion, including USD 260 million of primary growth capital. The first phase is expected to close by the third quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions. Grab also agreed to buy the remaining 40% about two years after that closing under a performance-based valuation framework with a USD 2.0 billion floor and USD 4.5 billion cap. Atome operates in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand, reports 25 million cumulative transacted users, more than 30,000 brands and a USD 1 billion gross loan portfolio, and offers BNPL loans and cards, consumer cash loans and digital lending.
