When AI Becomes the Travel Agent, Who Owns the Journey?
Booking Holdings SVP of Fintech Daniel Marovitz tells PYMNTS that travel agents powered by AI still depend on cross-currency payments, supplier onboarding, fraud and sanctions controls, refunds and customer service. He says Booking is testing voice agents for hotel commission follow-up and supplier onboarding, while AI already helps route payments using issuer location, transaction currency, purchase size and acquiring-bank performance. For autonomous purchases, he expects gradual adoption with a human approval step because authorization, liability and disputes remain unresolved.
