Building international payment capabilities for enterprise clients
Founded as a fintech startup, Kapital Grupo Financiero has evolved into a full-service financial institution supporting enterprises across Mexico.
As the business expanded, client expectations changed. Businesses increasingly needed reliable international payment and foreign exchange capabilities, services that had not previously been part of Kapital’s core offering.
Closing the cross-border payment gap
Kapital required a partner that could scale quickly, manage operational complexity, and bring cross-border expertise that its internal capabilities could not yet support.
Through its partnership with Mastercard, Kapital turned to Corpay Cross-Border to help build the international payment and FX capabilities needed to support enterprise clients across Mexico, the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
Using payment integration services without disrupting client workflows
Rather than requiring Kapital to rebuild existing processes, Corpay Cross-Border adapted its solution to the bank’s current systems.
Clients continue to submit payment orders through Kapital’s own platform. Those payment files are then uploaded to Corpay Cross-Border, which executes cross-border payments and manages foreign exchange without disrupting the client experience.
This approach gave Kapital a practical way to add international payment capabilities while maintaining continuity across its existing client workflows.
Supporting higher cross-border payment volume
Kapital processes approximately 8,000 cross-border payments per month, with projected volume expected to scale to more than 40,000 payments.
To support that growth, Kapital needed payment infrastructure that could handle increasing transaction volume while preserving reliability, control, and client experience.
Corpay Cross-Border’s integrated payment processing helped Kapital establish a more scalable foundation for international payments and FX.
Expanding connectivity across markets
Since December 2025, Kapital has processed steadily increasing cross-border payment volume through Corpay Cross-Border.
Most activity supports flows between Mexico and the United States, with additional activity across Europe, Canada, and Southeast Asia. Most transactions are denominated in U.S. dollars.
Through its relationship with Corpay Cross-Border, Kapital strengthened connectivity in existing markets while expanding into new jurisdictions that would have been difficult to access through traditional banking partners alone.
Building a scalable international payments platform
With Corpay Cross-Border as its preferred cross-border payments partner, Kapital has laid the foundation for an international payments platform designed to scale alongside its growth.
The partnership helped Kapital launch international payment capabilities, strengthen client retention, and establish a cross-border payments infrastructure that can support evolving client needs.
