An international, multibrand, and multichannel collaboration involving e-commerce in 35 countries and 115 physical stores in 14 markets, with a rollout completed in just three months.

Adyen, the global financial technology platform of choice for leading businesses, today announced a partnership with Tod’s to accelerate the evolution of omnichannel payments and reduce the operational complexity caused by fragmented infrastructures.

At the heart of the collaboration was Tod’s need to harmonize payment management across its physical and digital channels globally. Previously navigating an ecosystem made up of different acquiring partners, Tod’s sought a unified solution to reduce costs, accelerate expansion timelines and simplify processes for its finance teams. The partnership took on a global, multi-brand and omnichannel dimension from the outset, ensuring speed of execution and a faster time to market across different geographies. In just three months, the rollout was successfully completed across more 115 physical stores of the brand distributed across 14 countries, extending the collaboration also to the e-commerce sector in 35 markets, and including the activation of Pay by Link solution.

Adyen was selected to address the specific requirements of Tod’s distinct regional markets. Adyen’s single platform enables rapid adaptation to shifting consumer habits by offering local payment preferences, without the need for bespoke integrations, all while optimizing costs.

Leveraging Adyen’s Unified Commerce solution and relying on a global partner with consistent service levels, Tod’s is already benefiting from significant optimizations on two distinct fronts. First, operational efficiency and agility have been greatly enhanced, as one-off costs and the time required to enter new markets or enable new payment methods are drastically reduced or eliminated. Second, more uniform information flows now support the finance and treasury teams at both the headquarters and regional levels, speeding up acquisition and reconciliation processes while simultaneously improving data quality.

Additionally, the brand has already recorded a significant improvement in authorization rates, with figures reaching close to 90% online and almost 95% in-store.

“In our industry, product quality must always go hand in hand with the quality of relationship management and service. This also means paying close attention to the evolution of payments in order to fully meet customer expectations, while also making our internal processes more efficient,” said Andrea Mercuri, Head of Group Treasury, Tod’s Group. “By partnering with Adyen, we aim to simplify operations across markets and channels, with a solid and scalable foundation on which to keep building, at a time when new technologies such as AI are also opening up further opportunities for optimization.”

“For luxury brands, competitiveness increasingly also depends on the payments infrastructure, which is essential to deliver a consistent experience across channels and markets while simplifying internal activities that are often time- and resource-intensive,” said Gabriele Bellezze, Country Manager, Adyen Italy. “In a landscape where implementation speed and adaptability are decisive, we work to enable companies like Tod’s to adapt quickly, stay close to local payment preferences and be ready to seize the innovations transforming the industry.”

In the coming months, Tod’s and Adyen will continue on this journey, translating technical success into new omnichannel opportunities across both boutiques and digital channels.
