Merchants Put AI to Work Without Handing Over the Customer
PYMNTS Intelligence research produced with Visa Acceptance Solutions combines surveys of 1,185 merchants, 5,241 consumers and 150 acquirers in the United States, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates. It says 46% of merchants were least willing to cede pricing decisions to AI agents, 42% cited fraud, disputes and liability, and 41% cited redirection away from their own channels. The article also reports that 48% of consumers had used AI for product research, while 23% of merchants could identify AI-originated traffic and purchases and 15% had structured agent-readable product data.
